(18/11/2006) Update on little HuySubmitted by duc.phuong on Sun, 2006-11-19 14:44. Activities | Little Pham Quoc Huy
During the same week, his father has met Dr. Suresh. He told him that the operation on his arm would depend on the result of the MRI scan. There might be two scenarios: 1. If the tumor were too big, or too close to the blood vessels in his arm, then he would have to remove the whole arm. 2. If the tumor were small and far enough from the blood vessels, then there would be a chance to keep the arm while removing the tumor. In the second case, the operation would consist of two phases: There were some other options, but Dr. Suresh said that this was the best option for him, as the probability of success was high, the effect was permanent, and the cost was affordable. According to him, the operation could be carried out in the second week of December. He also stressed that, according to the result of the previous MRI scan, the blood vessels were not very close to the tumor, so the probability for the first case to occur was quite low. After the operation, he would need to be hospitalized for only 1 week for recovery, excluding the time for treatment of cancer. He would be able to familiarize himself with his new arm at home. We all wish and hope that the second case will occur. During the past week, GFO members continued helping Little Huy Reply |

On November 13th, Little Huy experienced fever and allergy, with the symptom being red spots on his legs. Therefore, his father brought him to the hospital. A few days before that, he had not eaten much, and suffered from pains in his throat, which might be the result of constant vomiting. He had also had some ulcers in his mouth, which had made him lost his appetite for food. Doctors discovered some new bacteria in his mouth, and changed the type of anti-biotic. The treatment with this anti-biotic would probably last longer than expected. Doctors decided to wait until he became stronger before scheduling MRI Scan and CT scan.
